WHEN IS THE DATE?

The day of the mobilization will be next July 2, 2022, a Saturday, and the lighting will be simultaneous on all the chosen summits. The time when the more than 300 Pyrenean summits will be lit up will be at dusk. Considering that for geographical reasons it is not night at the same time in all places along the Pyrenees, the reference time for lighting up will be around 22.00 CET (10 PM). The exact time of the start of the action and the duration of the lighting will be determined later.
The first step is to set it in your agenda for the weekend of July 2-3.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER?

Yes, registration is essential to participate in the Pyrenean Way. Registration is used to organize the mobilization, to guarantee accident and rescue insurance for all participants, and to contribute financially to funding the event. Please contact us to register.
The registration period will be opened in spring and will be announced in advance.

DOES EACH SUMMIT HAVE ITS ITINERARY?

Yes. Once registered, each participant will receive detailed information to meet the challenge: technical details of the mountain and a proposed itinerary with its corresponding route to download. When choosing the itineraries, the safety of the routes has been given priority. Information on cellphone coverage and other useful references will also be provided.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL THERE BE AT EACH SUMMIT?

Each peak will have limited capacity, depending on its features. Therefore, a different number of participants is expected for each summit. The maximum number of participants may vary from 50 to 200 and, in some exceptional cases, to slightly higher numbers. When capacity is reached at the top, registration will be closed.

WILL THERE BE SAFETY RULES?

Yes, there will be safety rules for the day of mobilization and performance of the activity. The goal is to get everyone back home safe and sound. The safety rules will be made public in due course and may be adapted by the organization according to the circumstances.

HOW WILL THE SUMMITS BE LIT UP?

There are two main forms of illumination. On the one hand, a special high-power torch that allows you to see the light from a distance of 40 km. On the other hand, the headlamps of each participant will be used, essential to move around at night. Other types of flashlights can also be used to reinforce these.
How long will it take to light each peak? It will be specified in due course. In most cases, you will not spend the night at the top, and after the action, you will descend the mountain. In some cases, however, it will be advisable to bivouac. The possibility of keeping the lanterns on all night is also considered.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

Taking into account the usual weather conditions in early July in all areas of the Pyrenees, the organization may decide to suspend all or part of the mobilization or, if necessary, postpone it. Priority will be given at all times to the safety of the participants.
